Gorditas Doña Tota Brings Its Famous Flavors to Austin in First Local Location

Gorditas Doña Tota Expands Into Central Texas

Central Texas food lovers are lining up for a taste of authentic Mexican street food as Gorditas Doña Tota officially opens its first Austin location. Known for its flavorful, freshly made gorditas, the 73-year-old chain has been a staple near the Texas-Mexico border for decades.

The Austin branch, located inside ATX Kitchens food hall, began welcoming customers at the end of July, quickly creating a buzz on social media as locals share their first bites of the restaurant’s signature stuffed corn pockets.

Two New Texas Locations

Gorditas Doña Tota’s Austin debut comes alongside another new opening in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston. The two additions mark a continued expansion for the beloved brand, which has long been celebrated in northern Mexico for its casual yet hearty menu.

From the Border to the Capital City

Founded in 1951, Gorditas Doña Tota has built a reputation for comfort food made with authentic flavors and traditional recipes. With its Austin launch, the chain hopes to capture the hearts—and appetites—of Central Texans looking for a genuine taste of Mexico.
